Put Spring Into Your Home – Part 2 – Bedrooms

The colour most associated with spring is yellow, you shouldn’t be afraid of it, just use it carefully! It can transform north facing bedrooms into bright and sunny havens which are inviting and relaxing. Use yellow on one wall as a feature and team it with dark furniture or black bedding to create a dramatic contrast, add a few bright canary accessories to lift the room out of the ordinary.
If yellow isn’t your colour choice there are plenty of other spring colours which will bring a bedroom alive. Honey shades are comforting as well as being easy on the eye. Coordinate with a touch of aubergine or lilac to warm up a bedroom.

White offers the crisp freshness of spring and looks equally as stunning when used on its own or teamed with an accent colour. Crisp bed linen and bedding makes everyone feel at home, look for white duvet sets which have subtle detailing to add texture, along with a feminine quality.
Cool greens are perfect for creating relaxing spaces, team with white for a light and airy feel in the room. Navy blue as an accent colour always works well with white and offers both masculine and feminine qualities which oozes chic elegance. Don’t forget this year’s official colour -turquoise- team with white to create a lively bedroom ambience which reminds you of oceanic colours of holidays, fun and informality.
If you prefer a more romantic look, boudoir chic is ideal, think of sexy curves and luxury bedding. Use contrasting ready made curtains to bring the look together, add romantic touches such as vases of roses, boa feather scarves draped over wooden curtain poles or headboards! Four poster bed aren’t just for stately homes, modern design simply use the frame work and leave it undressed or you can use voile curtains to drape over the top to represent a canopy to create a soft and romantic look.
Neutral colour schemes can be made far more alluring by painting the wall behind the headboard, opt for a colour which you wouldn’t usually choose, you’ll be surprised and delighted in the difference it can make.
Layering bedlinen is a fantastic way to re-vamp a bedroom if you’re on a tight budget, look for similar tones of colours but in different textures for the best effects. Look for bedding which has detailing on it for a low cost yet fabulous bedroom transformation.
Window dressings should also be kept light and offer chic styling which compliments the style of the bedroom and the colour scheme. If you’re not too keen on floral bedding try choosing curtains which have a modern floral border, these will bring a touch of nature subtly into your bedroom.
Creating a successful interior is all about contrast, balance and proportion. Get these right and you’ll create stunning bedrooms which won’t break the bank.
